Learning and playing together
Embu County Primary School, KenyaThe 2012 World Busk brought Musequality into contact with several organisations who share our goals. One of them is the charity Moving Mountains, which funds a school in the slum district of the Embu, eastern Kenya.
The school was keen to introduce music into the school curriculum and had managed to obtain support for a qualified music teacher, but had no instruments. Musequality gave them a grant to buy a much-needed keyboard, along with an amplifier so that it can be used during open-air assemblies.
Following an appeal, Musequality managed to gather ten descant recorders for the school, which were delivered in person to Moving Mountains' Nairobi office by Emily Hinton (whose mother Celia Harper is a member of Chiswick Baroque and a long-standing Musequality supporter). But the more recorders they have, the more children can participate. Do you have a descant recorder that is gathering dust? If so, please email us. More
