Sir Humphrey Maud KCMG FRCM: Chairman

A former ambassador to Argentina, then a deputy secretary general of the Commonwealth, Sir Humphrey is chairman of the Commonwealth Disaster Management Agency. He has played the ’cello all his life. After four years in the National Youth Orchestra, he played chamber music in foreign countries, in public and private, throughout his foreign service career, reaching areas of society normally denied to ambassadors.

David Juritz: Founder

South African-born David, a violinist, has lived in London since 1976. He was leader of the London Mozart Players (the UK’s longest-established chamber orchestra) until 2010. He is artistic director of the Burton Bradstock Festival and leads the London Tango Quintet. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in all the main concert halls of the UK and has performed in North and South America, the Far East, Europe, South Africa and Australia. He regularly writes about issues related to music and has contributed articles to The Strad, Double Bassist and Nature. He recently presented The Asylum Band, a programme about the orchestra of Norfolk Mental Hospital, on BBC4. He kick-started the funds for, and raised awareness of, Musequality by busking Round the World and Bach in 2007.

Jeremy Bradshaw: Executive Director

Ethics & compliance director for BP until 2011, Jeremy was responsible for embedding BP’s code of conduct and ethics & compliance programme in its global exploration and production business. His work took him to countries with special economic and social challenges, including Russia, Azerbaijan, Angola and South Africa. A keen amateur violinist, he plays regularly with the Kensington Symphony Orchestra and is an active member of its management team.

Annabelle Simmons

Annabelle studied music at Goldsmiths and social anthropology at Cambridge. She has worked as a professional musician, and subsequently in the civil service at the Department for Children, Schools and Families. She now works for the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.

Clare Delmar

Clare is a former project financier who began to get involved in community arts 10 years ago, starting with a local children’s choir. Since then she has worked for the BBC, running an education and outreach programme for one of the performing groups. She has also set up her own production company, Bacchus, which produces events linking arts, corporate and educational organisations. She is the creator of City Sings, which partners businesses with local schools to prepare and perform choral works at major concert venues. City Sings has commissioned new music and generated funds for music education in participating schools.

Eleanor Cozens

Eleanor has 20 years experience of working in the international development sector. She has been responsible for country programmes for CARE in the Comoros and Iraq, and for VSO in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. She has recently done in-depth work developing the principles and practice for Sightsavers International’s programme partnership policy. Eleanor has worked with a wide range of partner organisations, from government ministries, institutions and NGOs to disabled people’s organisations and small community-based groups. She now works as an independent consultant.


Jean Buck

Jean has over 15 years experience as a violin teacher and class music teacher and is passionate about music education changing lives. She and has led choirs, youth orchestras and string ensembles wherever she has taught as well as being a member of adult choirs and orchestras herself. She has recently discovered the fun of busking and is enjoying getting others to join her for fundraising. Jean also co-ordinates our Sponsored Practice Scheme and other fundraising events with schools.


Jim Trott

As a commercial pilot Jim has lived and worked in many parts of the world, including flying helicopter search and rescue and oil support operations in places such as the Outer Hebrides and Nigeria. He is presently flying for British Airways, servicing both long and short haul destinations. Jim is a keen amateur musician, playing trumpet in the Bracknell and Wokingham Community Band and cornet in Breakaway Brass. One of his favourite work destinations is Kampala, Uganda, where he was introduced to the inspirational M-Lisada brass band project by Simon Yiga of KMS. With the support of Jim’s UK bands the brass project for the children of The Good Shepherd Home was founded, and a partnership was formed with Musequality to support the programme. Jim is still a regular visitor to Kampala where he is able to observe and report on the projects.

Rowan Freeland: Legal Advisor to the Trustees

A solicitor, Rowan is a partner at Simmons & Simmons LLP where he specialises in intellectual property litigation. He met David Juritz, Musequality’s founder, while serving on the board of the London Mozart Players.
