If you play an instrument or sing, have some teaching experience, and would like to work directly with the children in one of our projects, why not use a summer holiday or sabbatical to make a real difference and have an unforgettable holiday?
There are a number of opportunities to help our project leaders and their teachers. An advanced level of skill is not required, but patience, empathy, and a desire to help most definitely are. There’s no doubt that you would learn and grow as much from your efforts as would the children you work with.
You need to be CRB-cleared for child protection reasons, and we would not normally be able to provide assistance with travel and accommodation costs. However, we can certainly assist with making the arrangements.
Jane Ingamells, head of strings at the Portsmouth Grammar School, visited Uganda to teach a strings programme at Tender Talents Magnet School in Kampala during June and July 2010. She also raised funds on a sponsored tandem ride and, in 2011, helped raise money for Musequality by staging a classical concert at her school.
